Crypto investing already had a steep learning curve. We set out to make that environment easier to enter. The work focused on making a complex financial space more approachable for users who were interested in crypto but still learning how to navigate it.

Stacked was designed for people who were already active long-term investors, but new to crypto. They were financially motivated, but entering a market with its own terminology, volatility, tools, security concerns, and learning curve.

The challenge was to make the product feel credible and approachable without oversimplifying the risk. Users needed enough structure to understand what they were doing, enough context to make informed decisions, and enough confidence to participate in an unfamiliar financial environment.

Portfolio tools, automation, exchange connectivity, market insight, and learning all needed to work together as part of a clearer investment experience rather than a collection of disconnected features.

Before defining the mobile experience, the work began by bringing product, leadership, marketing, engineering, and design into the same conversation. The team had access to user feedback and feature requests from the existing desktop platform, but those inputs were not yet aligned around the needs of the new audience.

A cross-functional discovery session helped surface assumptions, identify overlap, and prioritize what the team believed mattered most. From there, user interviews, community research, competitive analysis, and product analytics helped test those assumptions against real behavior and market context.

This process revealed where existing users were getting lost, where newer crypto investors needed more support, and where the product needed clearer entry points into an unfamiliar financial environment.

Not every feature request deserved equal weight. The existing feedback came largely from desktop users and crypto day traders. That feedback was useful, but the mobile product had a different audience and a different job to do.

The work focused on defining what belonged in the new experience, what needed to be reframed, and what needed to support the user journey more intentionally. For long-term investors entering crypto, the product needed to do more than provide access to trading and portfolio tools. It needed to help them feel informed, supported, and confident enough to participate in a financial space they were still learning to understand.

Early flows and mapping helped turn those decisions into shared reference points the team could align around, discuss scope against, and use to make product decisions earlier. The mobile experience needed its own structure, shaped around how this audience would enter, understand, and begin using crypto.

The interface needed to make crypto feel legible to people who were still learning how to read the space. At-a-glance views helped users understand the value of their investments and how their holdings were distributed. Market information gave those numbers a familiar frame, closer to the way long-term investors were used to reading traditional investment apps.

The experience introduced ways to make learning easy. Relevant news connected market movement to real-world events. A drawer-based knowledge base allowed users to look up terms or concepts without losing their place in the app. Social community features gave newer crypto investors a way to share questions and strategies as they built familiarity with the market.
